Women in Aviation

Throughout history, women have been inspired and motivated to make their mark in the aviation world. Amelia Earhart flew across the Atlantic in 1928, Jacqueline Cochran broke the sound barrier in 1953, and Patty Wagstaff became the first woman to hold the title of U.S. National Aerobatic Champion in 1991.

Aviation is not, by all means, a gender specific market. There are no advantages for either sex in abilities to pilot or learn the necessary knowledge required to fly. There are organizations such as The Ninety-Nines Inc., a nonprofit charitable membership corporation, that provide support and scholarships for women desiring a career in Aviation.

The organization was founded in 1929 by 99 licensed women pilots for the mutual support and advancement of women in aviation, Amelia being the President. Since then, the association has skyrocketed with members. With groups in 35 countries and over 5,500 participants from around the globe, the 99's are consistently growing.

Members receive encouragement, understanding and strength from each other, coming to together to aid future pilots in their training and providing aviation education.

Springs Aviation supports and works with The Ninety-Nines local chapter to assist women in obtaining support and training for their future goals. So come on girls, let's show 'em what we got! Join your local chapter and start making history today.
