Stage
Check 3 Private Pilot
Requirements
Ground Requirements
1) Have a Weight & Balance ready. Use the cheat sheet. Discuss pros and cons of a forward CG verses an aft CG (how they affect stall speed, cruise speed and stability).
2) Show me the performance calculations for the day. I will give you the Temperature and Pressure Altitude. I need to see Takeoff Distance and Landing Distance numbers as well as any Crosswind Component.
3) Know the Required Documentation in Aircraft and in Pilot’s Possession.
4) Know the 3 Types of Medical Certificates and when they expire.
5) Know the Requirements to be a Private Pilot.
6)
Know the Limitations placed on
a Private Pilot.
7) Know the Category/Class of aircraft as well as the Right of Way Rules. (BGAAR)
8) Known the Alcohol Limitations of a Pilot.
9) Know Bernoulli’s Principle.
10) Know all of the V-Speeds for your Aircraft.
11) Explain basic Aerodynamics (how the wing produces lift).
12) Give a BASIC description of each Aircraft System (power plant, electrical, fuel, oil, exhaust, ignition, pitot/static, vacuum, and hydraulics).
13) Know the Minimum Equipment required for day/night VFR. (TOMATOFLAMES/FLAPS)
14) Explain the 4 Left-Turning Tendencies of an airplane.

23) Tell me how to get a weather briefing. Be able to read a METAR.
24) Where can you expect to pick up ICE?
25) Tell me about Wind Shear, Wake Turbulence, and Micro bursts. How will you fly in such conditions? Be generic, not scientific.
26) Tell me about Special VFR. What is required to get it?
27) Tell me what Part 61, Part 91, and NTSB 830 are about?
28) Know the VFR Cruising Altitudes.
29) Know the Lost Procedures.
Flight Requirements
Note: Nearly ALL Private Pilot check-rides that result in a failure are a result of LANDINGS! Keep the nose off the ` ground and USE THE RUDDER! These are the 2 problems I generally see and they cause a LOT of accidents.
Have fun on this ride, but do what you know how to do. Good Luck!
